When you study for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), you can be assured that academic support is of the highest priority and our teaching staff are always on hand to assist you. The VCE is the certificate awarded to students upon the successful completion of secondary education in Victoria. It allows for a diverse range of paths to be taken into either further study at a university or vocational training institution, or entry into the workforce. It is an outstanding qualification that is recognised around the world.
To obtain their VCE, students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 16 units of study during Years 11 and 12.
• One unit per subject is studied in each semester
• Students study units 1 and 2 subjects in Year 11
• Students study units 3 and 4 subjects in Year 12
• English (English as a First Language) units 1-4
• English (English as an Additional Language) units 1-4
• In Year 11, generally twelve units are studied during the year
• In Year 12, generally ten units are studied during the year
This subject is designed to provide valuable and challenging mathematical learning. The student’s aspirations are taken into account, with several branches of mathematics on offer:
• General Mathematics units 1-2
• Mathematical Methods units 1-4
• Further Mathematics units 3-4
• Specialist Mathematics units 3-4
English as an Additional Language
This subject aims to develop the student’s comprehension, critical understanding and control of the English language to effectively communicate attitudes, ideas and information. Our teachers encourage daily reading, writing and speaking, as well as listening and viewing. We recognise that mastery of the English language will result in academic success for our students.
• EAL units 1-4
This study explores and explains the composition and behaviour of matter and the chemical processes that occur on Earth and beyond. After studying the fundamental concepts, students go on to apply theoretical concepts in laboratory experiments.
• Chemistry units 1-4
Chinese/Vietnamese and other languages
The study of these languages contributes to the overall education of our students. Cross-cultural understanding, general knowledge and literacy are all studied. This assists the students in their time here by highlighting different attitudes and values within the Australian community.
• LOTE units 1-4
VCE Accounting examines the financial events and decision-making of small businesses. Students study the theoretical and practical aspects of accounting and develop skills in calculating, recording, reporting and analysing financial situations. The specially trained teachers teach manual and computer accounting processes.
• Accounting units 1-4
This traditional course studies electricity and mechanics and leads to advanced topics in units 3 & 4.
• Physics units 1-4
VCE Computing supports you to be a part of a globalised society as you learn the capabilities of digital technology. VCE computing provides a pathway to further studies in areas such as computer science and software development. In Year 11, you will learn the fundamentals of computing knowledge. In Year 12, you will build on your knowledge using software programmes to explore and create cutting edge products such as gaming platforms and apps. VCE Enhanced Coding is offered also as a part of this course for which you will receive a certification through Acknowledge Creativity.
As a forward-thinking supplement to core VCE study, Stott’s College offers a number of IT focussed courses which aim to prepare you for university study as well as future careers. IT skills are now imperative for many career pathways and Stott’s College aims to provide the opportunity for you to build a solid base of knowledge in these areas. These courses are uniquely developed and designed by Acknowledge Creativity, on completion of which you will receive a Certificate. Current courses on offer are:

Coding (through VCE Computing):
In this Coding course, you will be studying cutting edge coding systems used for websites, apps and other IT products.
You will learn to understand and use computer systems and circuit design for robotics applications including Andrinos and Raspberry Pie.
In this highly practical and interactive course, you will design, create and manipulate websites using html, CSS and java scripts.
In this course, you will learn to use Photoshop and other computer design software and apply these skills in real world tasks.

• Students can study High School Preparation English with us prior to course commencement of Year 11.
