The VCE is the certificate awarded to students upon the successful completion of secondary education in Victoria. It allows for a diverse range of paths to be taken into either further study at a university or vocational training institution, or entry into the workforce. It is an outstanding qualification that is recognised around the world.
At Stott’s College, the close and respectful relationship between our teachers and students provides an optimal learning environment. When you study for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), you can be assured that academic support is of the highest priority and our teaching staff are always on hand to assist you.
At Stott’s College, our students are always at the forefront of educational developments, as well as developing a range of new skills which are vital for today and tomorrow’s job market. This is achieved through the option of two educational streams – creative or stem – depending on the student’s individual interests and goals for future.
We offer subjects including Maths, English, Chemistry,Language, and Business Management.
We aim to ensure all students feel as happy and comfortable as possible at the school. Therefore, if students are starting the course with a lower ability in English language and communication skills, we offer the VCE foundation course, to assist students with transitioning into the subject streams. This includes developing English skills through Intensive English Language Development and EAL VCE unit (English as an Additional Language), as well as the option of taking two other VCE units. Furthermore, an additional 2 hours of English or relevant unit study support is also provided for students.
This subject is designed to provide valuable and challenging mathematical learning. English as an Additional Language
This subject aims to develop the student’s comprehension, critical understanding and control of the English language to effectively communicate attitudes, ideas and information. Our teachers encourage daily reading, writing and speaking, as well as listening and viewing. We recognise that mastery of the English language will result in academic success for our students.
This study explores and explains the composition and behaviour of matter and the chemical processes that occur on Earth and beyond. After studying the fundamental concepts, students go on to apply theoretical concepts in laboratory experiments.
• Chemistry units 1-4
Chinese/Vietnamese and other languages
The study of these languages contributes to the overall education of our students. Cross-cultural understanding, general knowledge and literacy are all studied. This assists the students in their time here by highlighting different attitudes and values within the Australian community.
VCE Business Management examines the ways businesses manage resources to achieve objectives. The VCE Business Management study design follows the process from the first idea for a business concept, to planning and establishing a business, through to the day-to-day management of a business. It also considers changes that need to be made to ensure continued success of a business. Students develop an understanding of the complexity of the challenges facing decision makers in managing these resources.
- Business Management Units 1-4
